Town of Blacksburg Multimodal Transit Facility

MBP provided comprehensive program and project management services for the Blacksburg Transit Multi-Modal Transit Facility at Virginia Tech. Our role included managing procurement, overseeing environmental assessments, coordinating pre-planning activities, reviewing drawings for compliance and constructability, providing cost estimates, and developing project schedules. Once construction began, MBP continued with project management and inspection services, including third-party inspection management to ensure quality control and adherence to project specifications.
The facility, located near the Perry Street Parking Garage on Virginia Tech’s campus, serves as a regional transit hub for Blacksburg Transit. It includes a two-story administration building with waiting areas, fare sales, a bicycle hub, and offices for both Virginia Tech and Blacksburg Transit. The project also features 17 new bus canopies, a roundabout at Stanger Street and Perry Street, extensive landscaping, and is designed to achieve LEED Silver certification.
