MBP provided construction management services for the new 104,000-square-foot Goochland Elementary School, a state-of-the-art facility designed to foster collaboration, engagement, and student-centered learning. Goochland County Public Schools sought to replace the former elementary campus, which consisted of two separate buildings, one for K–5 and one for Pre-K, with a single modern school serving Pre-K through fifth grade.
The new 25-acre campus brings all students under one roof for the first time and includes 44 classrooms, flexible collaboration spaces, fields, playgrounds, and surface parking to support approximately 650 students, including 50 in pre-kindergarten. Funded through bond financing approved by voters in 2021 along with additional local support, the school was planned to be adaptable, age-appropriate, and connected to its natural surroundings.
Delivered using the design-bid-build method, the $42.9 million facility opened on schedule in August 2024. It is the County’s first new school construction in more than 15 years and was designed to meet both current and future enrollment needs as the community continues to grow.
