1. What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever received?

Do what the boss wants done first, no matter the priority level. That way it’s off your plate and you can get credit for being responsive.

2. What’s your favorite thing about MBP’s culture?

That we stand behind our values without exception. Based on that, we choose the clients we want to continue to work with and we put our team members first (after safety, of course).

3. What’s your favorite part of working in this industry?

I love telling friends, family and acquaintances about the many wonderful projects that we’ve worked on in and around our joint communities. What we do impacts millions of people who drive our roads and bridges, attend our schools and universities, visit our hospitals or enjoy our museums, just to cite a few examples.

4. What’s one thing you could give a 30-minute presentation on with no prep?

I could talk about the many wonders of MBP along with examples of how our current leadership team members rose through the ranks [and I could probably do it for two hours]. It’s by far the best place I have ever worked, with the most thoughtful leaders in the industry.

5. What’s something you’ve loved since you were a kid—and still do today?

I’ve always loved to learn how things work. Whenever something stopped working, whether it was a toaster, radio, or lighter, I would ask to have it. Then I would take it completely apart to see the components were and how they interacted with each other. And every now and then, I would be able to repair it. Those were the most satisfying days of my childhood.
