1. What’s your favorite place you’ve ever traveled to for work—or fun?

I have a few locations that could go at the top of this list, but Hawaii counts as a place where I’ve traveled for both fun and work. First, my wife and I spent our honeymoon in Oahu and Maui in August 2000. Second, I had the opportunity to spend a week in December 2010 supporting a project for a new Visitor’s Emergency Response and Operations Centers at Volcanoes National Park on the island of Hawaii, which was both a cool location and project. Finally, I had a second project opportunity in August 2019 at Naval Station Pearl Harbor to attend a planning session for a drydock project that turned into a combination of work for the four-day meeting schedule and an extended family vacation with my wife and three kids.

2. What’s your favorite thing about MBP’s culture?

I like the fact that even though MBP is over 35 years old, the firm still has a very entrepreneurial feel to me. If team members have ideas for a new pursuit or new type of technology to implement, our leadership team is very open to listening to the ideas, helping the idea get developed, and giving the opportunity to pursue and/or implement it to help grow and improve the firm.

3. What’s the most memorable project you’ve worked on and why?

P-904 Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) Improvements at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard when I was with my first job for NAVFAC. During excavation on the site, the project uncovered the remains of a cannon emplacement and magazine from the War of 1812 in the building’s footprint. We were also told to expect to find three unaccounted-for bodies of prisoners from an old cemetery that bordered the site during the Spanish-American war, but we never found them.

4. What’s your favorite sports team?

Shout out to the Eagles for Super Bowls LII and LIX, but my favorite Philly pro team is the Phillies. On the non-pro side, it’s the Schuylkill River Exiles Rugby Football Club, which I played with for 20 years.

5. What’s your favorite way to spend a weekend?

For 25 years, I spent weekends on the rugby field, and I still enjoy watching the game. Now, I spend weekends on the golf course, it hurts less on Mondays.
