William & Mary, Muscarelle Museum of Art
Williamsburg, VA
MBP provided commissioning services throughout pre-design, design, construction, acceptance, and warranty phases for the Muscarelle Museum of Art expansion and renovation at William & Mary. The project included a 30,000 square foot addition and 19,000 square feet of renovated space, more than tripling the museum’s gallery capacity and introducing new public amenities such as a café, event and lecture space, and improved art storage and study areas.
Our team commissioned a wide range of mechanical systems, including chilled and heating water systems, air handling units, energy recovery units, variable air volume terminal units, fan coil units, humidification, perimeter baseboard heating, exhaust fans, and DDC control systems. Electrical systems included emergency generation, lighting control, and distribution, while plumbing systems included domestic water heaters, pumps, and utility metering. All systems were tested to comply with LEED v4.0 standards as the project targets Silver certification under Fundamental Commissioning and Verification.
