MBP provided enhanced commissioning services for the building energy systems to ensure compliance with North Carolina Senate Bill 668 and USGBC LEED Energy & Atmosphere Prerequisite 1 and Credit 3. The project involved a state-of-the-art student center that added 173,041 gross square feet to the existing facility and renovated an additional 117,421 square feet. Scope included the demolition of the existing bookstore to create a new courtyard, as well as infrastructure upgrades to connect the building to the campus chilled water and steam systems.

The student center features departmental and student organization offices, performing arts and cultural spaces, an art museum, university dining venues, support offices, and 75,000 square feet of retail space. The project achieved LEED Silver certification.
