National Institutes of Health, Building 40A

Bethesda, MD

Project Detail:

Market:

MBP provided comprehensive Project Management and Project Controls services, including constructability reviews, CPM scheduling and analysis, cost estimating, financial management, claims support and negotiations, BIM coordination, PMIS implementation, risk management, and safety oversight.

The project involved constructing a 158,141-square-foot addition to the existing VRC Building 40. The new addition accommodates research space, laboratories, support areas, computational workspaces, offices, personnel support rooms, and collaborative areas. Delivered through a design-bid-build approach, the project was divided into two separate construction contracts: one for early weather barrier improvements to the existing Building 40 in preparation for the addition, and one for the construction of the Building 40A addition itself.

“The MBP construction quality management team is embedded on-site as an integral part of my overall project team. The MBP subject matter experts are invaluable to the project’s daily management activities and regularly deliver unanticipated value that exceeds my most optimistic expectations.”
