James Madison University, Dukes Dining Hall

Harrisonburg, VA

MBP provided comprehensive commissioning services for the Dukes Dining Hall project, supporting the design, construction, acceptance, and occupancy phases. Our team commissioned the mechanical, domestic hot water, electrical, and building envelope systems, following ASHRAE guidelines and Building Commissioning Association (BCA) best practices. These services contributed to the project achieving LEED Silver certification for both Fundamental and Enhanced Commissioning, including Building Envelope Commissioning.

The project involved the construction of a new 37,152-square-foot, three-story dining and social facility. Designed to foster campus connection, the building features multiple food venues, seating for 1,100 students, an atrium, and interior and exterior dining areas. Its multi-level, accessible design provides entry at the top level and exits on the middle and lower levels, creating an engaging and functional space that enhances the student experience.
