Duke University, Rubenstein Arts Center
Durham, NC
MBP provided LEED-enhanced commissioning services for the Rubenstein Arts Center at Duke University during the design, construction, acceptance, and warranty phases. Our scope included commissioning the HVAC, domestic hot water, and lighting control systems, along with LEED consulting. During the design review, MBP identified critical coordination issues in the mechanical room layout that would have limited equipment access and maintenance space. Our early intervention helped resolve these conflicts during design, avoiding costly changes and schedule delays during construction.
The Rubenstein Arts Center is a 70,290-square-foot facility designed for the study and production of the arts. It features studios for painting, ceramics, dance, and video production, classrooms, offices, and a 250-seat flexible theater. The project achieved LEED Silver certification.
