In 2019, as a subconsultant to FEA, MBP has assisted with the facility assessments, site investigations, and scoping of deferred maintenance and capital improvement projects at over 31 national parks for over 125 assets across the continental United States, Hawaii, and Alaska. These projects include a mix of facility types, road/street repairs, utility distribution, water/wastewater treatment, museum/cultural facilities, trail systems, memorials, residential facilities, headquarter facilities, recreational facilities, and park communication systems. Following the site investigation and development of the scopes of work, MBP’s cost estimating services helped to define the project budgets for repair and construction projects to be entered into the National Park Service maintenance database for future planning of work to be completed. These projects are scoped and estimated to allow more precise planning by the park for fiscal year budgets and provide a better basis of design for future design work. MBP’s estimated construction cost for the 2019 assessments total over $1.75 billion.
