MBP provided owner representative services, including coordinating a value engineering workshop, for the new Education and Academic Administration Building at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS). The new 11-story, 149,000-square-foot building includes a 310-space parking garage for the M1, M2, and Medical Masters programs and their staff as well as consolidating numerous academic support departments currently dispersed in multiple buildings both on and off EVMS campus. The Educational and Academic Administration Building is envisioned to support building that embodies and strengthen EVMS’s well-defined purpose as a provider of excellent education and foster scholarships, designed and built to support education the best way known, a cohesive and attractive design that unifies the campus and builds upon the standards set throughout the rest of EVMS, and foster a team-based learning environment that promotes both inter-and intra-professional collaboration.

“In the early programming stage of the project, MBP was instrumental in helping us meet the State’s criteria for funding. During the design phase, they not only assisted with procuring an A-E firm but also with preparing the criteria for using the CM@Risk delivery method, which fast tracked the construction by several months. During the pre-construction phase, MBP conducted a value engineering workshop that identified over $2.9 million in potential savings and enhancements.”
