MBP Wins 2018 CMAA Project Achievement Award for Todds Lane/Big Bethel Road Intersection Improvement Project

MBP is pleased to announce that the firm has been selected by the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) for a 2018 National Project Achievement Award in the category of Transportation, construction value less than $100 million.

The award recognized the MBP team for outstanding construction management efforts for the Todds Lane/Big Bethel Road Intersection Improvement Project for the City of Hampton, Virginia. MBP received the award at the CMAA National Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, on October 16, 2018.

“It is with great honor that MBP accepts another CMAA Project Achievement Award,” says Blake Peck, PE, CCM, President and Chief Executive Officer. “We are extremely proud of this recognition by our peers and of the value our team, particularly Joe Modica, John Machner, and Joe Gwaltey, has bought to The City of Hampton on the Todds Lane/Big Bethel Road project.”

The project involved widening an intersection to provide one additional turn lane and a median on Todds Lane and Big Bethel Road. A five-foot-wide sidewalk was constructed in the widening areas, and utilities were relocated within right-of-way and easements. This was a State and Federally-backed project that met the requirements for typical VDOT and FHWA funded projects. MBP provided a comprehensive construction management program to include implementing a quality control program for both on-site inspections and off-site plant inspections, conducting a quality assurance to validate results of the quality control processes, and risk management strategies, which brought together project stakeholders to resolve potential issues and avoid impacts to the schedule and budget.

Since 1999, CMAA has been presenting its Project Achievement Awards to recognize instances in which professional Construction or Program Management has made a significant contribution to the successful completion of a challenging project or program.
