Meet Ryan Waldrop, a Project Manager with over 10 years of hands-on experience delivering successful capital projects. Ryan has supported a wide range of construction roles, from on-site management and procurement to documentation control, reporting, inspections, and project closeout. He brings strong technical capabilities, including plan reviews, quantity take-offs, and cost estimating support, all with a focus on keeping projects efficient and on schedule.

Ryan is skilled in preparing and analyzing CPM schedules, as well as utilizing software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit, West Point Bridge Designer, NI Multisim, and SketchUp. Whether he is coordinating field activities, verifying work progress, or reviewing drawings and costs behind the scenes, Ryan is driven by keeping projects moving smoothly and helping teams stay ahead of challenges.

A Day in Ryan's Life

In this video, Ryan takes us through a day at Chesterfield County Public Schools’ Deep Creek Elementary project, starting with an early morning concrete pour and ending with a final site walkthrough with the superintendent. Along the way, he checks in with crews, meets with the architect and owner, and uses drone technology to capture progress across the 20-acre site.

Q&A with Ryan

What does a typical day look like?

I’m a Project Manager in MBP’s Building Service Line, leading K-12 education projects throughout Central Virginia. My days are a blend of client coordination, site visits, and problem-solving, making sure our projects stay on schedule, within budget, and aligned with the owner’s vision.

What do you enjoy most about working at MBP?

The people and teamwork are what make MBP special. No matter the project or challenge, there’s always someone ready to collaborate, offer guidance, or celebrate a win with you.

How has MBP supported your career growth or professional development?

MBP has given me incredible opportunities to grow through mentorship, leadership programs, and challenging projects. Becoming an Associate Shareholder in 2024 was a major milestone, and the firm continues to support my professional development through certifications and industry involvement with CMAA.

What is some advice you’d give to your 20-year-old self?

Be patient with your journey and trust the process. Every challenge teaches you something valuable; keep learning, stay humble, and don’t lose sight of what motivates you.

Favorite MBP tradition or event?

I always look forward to our company-wide annual business meeting. It’s a great chance to catch up with teammates, share stories from the field, and celebrate the collaboration that makes MBP such a special place to work.

What is your favorite way to unwind after a busy week?

After a busy week, I enjoy getting outdoors, usually golfing or spending time by the water with friends. It’s the perfect mix of fun, relaxation, and fresh air.
