Service Line Manager

Meet Jason MacDonald, a Service Line Manager at MBP. Jason brings over 30 years of construction and program management experience across a wide range of projects, including K-12, higher education, museums, laboratories, municipal facilities, federal military, and transportation infrastructure.

Currently, Jason serves as Program Manager for the Stafford New Schools Program, where he leads a team of seven and is helping deliver five new schools for Stafford County Public Schools. He has managed two of MBP’s largest school programs and supports projects from pre-design through construction and closeout. His work spans project management, inspection, technical review, estimating, and scheduling, keeping teams aligned and projects on track.

Q&A with Jason

What inspired you to pursue a career in construction management?: Growing up, I’ve always been interested in construction and how things fit together and work. My father was an engineer and in the military, so we moved around a lot and were always fixing up the houses we lived in. My uncles worked on cars, and my grandfather could fix almost anything, so construction and the construction process just came naturally to me.
What do you enjoy most about working at MBP?: I enjoy working with the MBP Team and delivering large-scale, complex projects to owners, clients, stakeholders, teachers, families, and students. It’s enjoyable to be part of a team making a 50–60-year decision with a significant impact on the community, and it’s nice to be able to point out to my family and friends, “Hey, I worked on that project!”
How has MBP supported your career growth or professional development?: MBP has always been there listening to my ideas, desires, career, and professional goals, and has guided and supported them from the moment I started with MBP in 1998.
If you weren’t in your current job, what would you be doing?: It’s sort of a joke, but if I weren’t at my current job, I would be renting jet skis and sun-brellas on the beach to tourists.
What was the first concert you ever attended?: I saw Metallica at the Roanoke Civic Center near Blacksburg. I think it was early 1997? Good concert!
What’s your hidden talent?: I can juggle and was a licensed racecar driver. Fun fact: “racecar” is a palindrome.
Favorite sports team?: Well, of course, the . . . H-O-K-I-E-S . . . HOKIES!
