MBP provided construction management, quality assurance, move management, safety management, cost estimating, CPM scheduling, and claims analysis services. This project was a result of the 2005 BRAC Commission’s recommendation to realign all tertiary (sub-specialty and complex care) medical services formerly located at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC, to the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. The design-build project included 682,000 square feet of new medical office, emergency room, and patient care construction as well as 400,000 square feet of renovations to existing facilities. New construction included a six-story ambulatory care facility, a four-story diagnostic and testing in-patient facility, and a 943-space parking garage located adjacent to the ambulatory care facility and connected by an enclosed walkway. Three new enclosed walkways, a pavilion, and a logistics tunnel connect new buildings to the existing facility. Renovations included low, medium, and high levels of interior upgrade to house clinical, administrative, and research spaces. This project¬†is LEED Gold certified.
