MBP Wins 2021 CMAA Project Achievement Award for the Eastern Virginia Medical School Project

MBP is pleased to announce that the firm has been selected by the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) for a 2021 Project Achievement Award in the category of Education, construction value over $50 million.

The award recognized the MBP team for outstanding construction management efforts for the Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) Waitzer Hall Project. MBP received the award at the CMAA2021 Conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on September 13, 2021.

“It is with great honor that MBP accepts another CMAA Project Achievement Award,” says MBP’s Don Young, PE, CCM, F.SAME, Executive Vice President, PM/CM Practice Leader. “We are extremely proud of this recognition by our peers and of the value that our team, particularly Steve Pancham, Jim Yatzeck, Greg Vuyovich, Thomas Gill, Ali Salim, Taylor White, and Kim Forbes, brought to EVMS for the Waitzer Hall project.”

The Waitzer Hall project included the construction of a new 144,000-gross-square-foot building and a 310-space, above-ground parking garage. Constructed in downtown Norfolk, Virginia, the building featured 11 stories with stacked parking integral to the bottom floors. The facility provides academic spaces for medical students and office spaces for administrative personnel. MBP provided leadership starting from the early planning stages to achieve the Owner’s budget, schedule, and quality goals while partnering with the Architect and Construction Manager at-Risk to deliver a successful project.

Since 1999, CMAA has been presenting its Project Achievement Awards to recognize instances in which professional Construction or Program Management has made a significant contribution to successfully completing a challenging project or program.
