MBP was brought on as an independent, third-party commissioning agent to develop, manage, and coordinate the commissioning process. When Longwood Gardens started the process of planning for the implementation of an expansion, upgrade, and renovation of their 90-year-old Main Fountain Garden located in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, they faced the challenge of maintaining the legacy and spirit of the original design, while improving the operation, maintenance, and visitor experience of the historic fountain. The five-acre site included all underground theatrical, mechanical, electrical, and support spaces serving the state-of-the-art, upgraded fountain system, and the incorporation of plans for future use. The existing theatrical fountain display systems were all removed from the site and refurbished, while the existing pump and compressor house was renovated as a museum, showcasing the heritage equipment in operation since 1935.
