|
Main Duties:
- To lead, provide oversight, and act as an estimating resource and knowledge base to the greater MBP team for cost management services.
- Apply estimating processes and practices to the analysis of estimates for construction projects.
- Develop project estimates by reviewing engineering plans and specification and through discussions with project managers and project personnel.
- Develop conceptual and definitive cost estimates in support of construction projects
- Perform detailed quality takeoffs.
- Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
- Assist in the development of project cash flow models.
- Assist in the development and the implementation of MBP cost management service standards and procedures.
- Participate in the review of cost estimates and change order estimates for contractors, to ascertain reasonableness.
- Provide for comparison of unit installation rates, area factors, and indirect support costs.
- Identify and maintain a comprehensive historical library of critical estimating metrics, ratios, and installation rates.
- Interface with vendors, contractors, owners, project managers and team members, project personal, engineers, and architects.
- Stay abreast with changing market conditions and their impact on the cost and price of construction
Work Experience:
- Experience estimating under multiple delivery methods including Design-Build, Design-Bid-Build, CM @ Risk, and Multiple Prime.
- Experience in reconciliation meetings between project team members is a plus.
- Experience performing value engineering analysis is a plus.
- Experience in preparation/review of cost aspects of constriction claims is a plus.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience with the application of construction practices, estimating standards, and competitive bidding.
Skills/Requirements:
- Minimum BS Engineering, Science, Business or other technical field.
- Minimum of fifteen (15) years or equivalent combination of education and experience of diverse estimating experience with medium to large construction, renovation, addition, and site and civil work projects
- Must be highly organized with strong oral and written communication skills: exhibit exceptional professional judgment, have the demonstrated ability to work independently, multitask, and prioritize without significant direct supervision.
- Strong computer skills with a working knowledge of scheduling and estimation software, database applications, and Microsoft Office applications are required.
